challenges facing the country there is hope. +27: Social Innovators of South Africa tracks six community-minded entrepreneurs who are
empowering the nation’s youth.
Englishman Gavin Weale is the Founder and Director of Live Magazine, a Cape Town based initiative that gives young people aged 18 to 25 the
opportunity to produce a print publication from start to finish.
Jarrel Mathebula is the Co-Founder of Indigenous Dance Academy (IDA) a self-sustaining organisation that gives township dancers from Tembisa (near
Johannesburg) the chance to earn money doing what they love.
Meghan Daniels is the Founder and Creative Director of the Ilizwi Photo Club which gives under 23 year olds from Khayelitsha free access to cameras
and photography lessons.
Cape Town icon, DJ Ready D is the Founder of the Great Cape Ambassadors Program, an organisation that uses Hip Hop to encourage
youth-at-risk to think of themselves as leaders.
Thierry Kita aka Coach Kita is the Director of Hoops 4 Hope in Crossroads Township near Cape Town, an organisation that teaches valuable life skills
through sport.
Vincent Manzini is the Co-Founder of the iKasi Experience, a cultural market that showcases township-based musical and entrepreneurial talent.
